The Department of Psychiatry has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) Child Division Administrator position serving the Child Psychiatry Program at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus.

Job Summary:

The Program Director is responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the clinical practice including direct, continuous contact with CU MEDICINE and CHCO to ensure appropriate education of providers, documentation templates, coding, collections and productivity. The Program Director is responsible for assisting the Division Head with recruitment of faculty including management of salary expectations. Due to the growing nature of this program, the Program Director will continually refine and develop the Divisional administrative structure along with the Division Head and the Director of Finance and Administration. The Program Director must understand the complex personnel system of the University and CHCO and follow appropriate policies and procedures for faculty, professional staff, temporary staff, and personnel. The Program Director is responsible for assisting in Space and Facilities administration at CHCO and UCD including space allocation, remodeling, reporting of use, management of capital equipment, etc. The Program Director is responsible for developing and participating in fundraising initiatives within the Program, coordinating when needed with the CHCO and UCD Foundations and appropriate staff.

Examples of Work Performed:

The Program Director is responsible for developing and directing the long-range strategic business plan for the Program, which includes the following responsibilities.
  • Preparation of business analyses, proposals, implementation plans for new programs, and designs and implementation of changes to existing programs.
  • Process and monitor all UC Denver and CHCO faculty related budgets and collaborate with CHCO administration and Senior Management to review faculty related expenditures and negotiate for "funds flow" expenditures quarterly or as needed.
  • Use decision making authority and independent judgment to facilitate the optimal use of division resources and is responsible for regular financial reporting and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures of the University, Department, and federal and other funding sources.
  • Responsible for sponsored research administration, post award, and oversight of the Grant Specialist in developing budgets, preparing proposals for processing, and monitoring grant renewals and progress reports.
  • Responsible for working with CU MEDICINE, CHCO, and other funding agencies for the creation and management of external contracts. Works with CU MEDICINE and CHCO to develop contract rates and fee schedules. Responsible for "Table 1" for the Program(s).
  • Develop guidelines to provide feedback to physicians and solicit suggestions and feedback from physicians to improve the clinical enterprise.
  • Responsible for monitoring and refining productivity standards for clinical faculty including updating job descriptions as needed.
  • Work with CHCO staff to ensure clinical excellence and efficiency as well as assist in monitoring CHCO collections and data. Responsible for reporting CFTE data and participating in practice evaluations as requested.
  • Keep abreast of changes to healthcare policy, coding, and specific issues related to Behavioral Health to develop proactive solutions and disseminate information.
  • Responsible for oversight of personnel, providing advice and counsel to hiring managers, ensure proper maintenance of files and annual evaluations, counsel employees and supervisors regarding employee relations issues and follow through with disciplinary actions when appropriate, arrange training when needed, and review the work and performance needs of direct reports.
  • Work in conjunction with the Division Head to consistently improve Faculty and Staff Development and mentorship programs.
  • Ensure either personally or by direction, accurate funding distributions, payroll, hiring, and recruitment practices.
  • Participate in supervision of PRAs and financial duties delegated to them.
  • Oversee the management of the Harris Infant Mental Health Postdoctoral Program, the Early Childhood Program, and the Integrated Psychology group at CHCO and will provide support to the Coordinator(s).
  • Ensure compliance and assist with management of information technology and regulatory agency reviews as needed.
  • Assist in the cultivation of donors.
  • Assist with development of marketing materials and website as well as develop processes to improve access.
  • Participate in Diversity Committee and work to improve diversity within the Program.
  • Identify and develop plans to eliminate inefficiencies and increase morale.
  • Assist in the identification of opportunities for further development of the Program, coordination of strategic planning, special events, meetings, etc.
  • Conduct regular searches for potential funding opportunities, screen and forward results to appropriate faculty members.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Six years of related professional experience

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Masters degree in business, business administration, finance, accounting , education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, information systems, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in University of Colorado Peoplesoft HR systems.
  • Experience in University of Colorado grant management and financial systems.

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established at $80,777 to $102,749.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.
