Description
Under the supervision of the Pathway Dean, Community & Human Services, assist in the instructional process by providing general support in a classroom, lab, virtual and/or online setting and provide tutoring and case management support to individuals or small groups. Work is generally diversified requiring knowledge of practices and techniques utilized in the operation of a lab or skill center and may include the assignment of work to other personnel in the work area.
Judgment and analysis are required in making decisions within established procedures. Supervision received is general in nature. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with occasional supervisory contact for policy clarification or interpretation.

    Assists in monitoring instructional activities and provides general assistance to students in the learning situation of an educational division; coordinates learning activities recommended by instructors to improve skills in the field of Early Childhood Education.
    Assists students, individually or in groups with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts, in a classroom, special lab, virtual and/or online setting.
    Prepares exhibits and demonstrations for class, lab, or online presentations; sets up and operates audio visual equipment and other specialized equipment related to the area of assignment.
    Assumes responsibility for classrooms, labs, and other space assigned; establishes and enforces lab regulations related to lab and equipment use; maintains inventory of supplies and equipment; writes requisitions for equipment and/or materials.
    Keeps progress records, notes, inventories and other data pertaining to the division; prepares related reports as required or assigned.
    Assists in the coordination of the activities of staff of student workers assigned to the job.
    Participates in in-service trainings, workshops and other educational activities as required or assigned. ? Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.

    Qualifications
    Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.

    Required Education: Requires 30 approved college credits in Bilingual Early Childhood Education.
    Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in Bilingual Early Childhood Education

    Required Experience: Must have a minimum of 5 year of experience in the area of Bilingual Early Childhood (Education and at least 2 years of experience in Adult Education assistance)
    Preferred Experience: 10 years of experience in the area of Bilingual Early Childhood education and 5 years of experience in Adult Educations assistance

    Required License/Certification: Early Childhood License and Bilingual Licence
    Preferred License/Certification: Certification through The Registry of Wisconsin

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Content knowledge and application in more than one age group: infants, toddler, preschoolers, and children up to 8 years of age.
    • Experience assisting instructors, virtually and in the classroom, with instructional preparation and teaching-related activities, lectures, and class assignments.
    • Experience assisting individual students and small groups of students with writing, speaking, and listening instructional activities in a bilingual (English/Spanish) setting.
    • Ability to support instructors and students via online information systems, Blackboard (or other web-based source), and distance learning instruction (on-line and virtual.)
    • Ability support students to successfully use Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps in addition to other online resources.
    • Ability to apply instructional procedure, rules, regulations, and practices as appropriate for early childhood settings.
    • Ability to maintain updated data.
    • Ability to manage equipment, supplies, materials.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    • Ability to lift up to 15lbs, carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance.
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak.
    • Sitting/Standing/Walking: 45% of time spent sitting, 40 % of time standing, 15% of time walking.
