Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Program in Early Childhood Education in the Department of Curriculum and Teaching is recruiting an assistant or associate professor (tenure-track or tenured) of early childhood education. We seek a colleague whose research centers equity and justice across early childhood (birth-8 years of age) within a variety of community/home/school settings. We especially encourage those in the areas of early childhood special education, inclusive education, and/or early intervention with a focus on young children ages 0-4 to apply. A successful candidate will prioritize linguistic, cultural, and/or racial diversities. This individual will contribute to the Department and the College's ongoing efforts to respond to the changing landscape of early childhood and the preparation of early childhood educators/interventionists, while honoring our longstanding commitments to diversity, urban education, and university-community collaboration.

Other responsibilities include: Help shape the redesign of the early childhood program; teach and advise in the department's master's and doctoral programs; collaborate across departments on research and teaching; partner with early childhood contexts and city/state officials; engage actively in research and other forms of scholarship.

Preferred Qualifications:

Earned doctorate, with focus on early childhood education, early childhood special education, early intervention, or related field. Commitment to teaching and research that foregrounds equity and inclusion in early childhood education. Experience as a practitioner (particularly birth-four populations) as well as demonstrated research in early childhood settings. Additional areas of expertise could include disability studies, culturally sustaining early intervention, family care, bi/multilingualism, curriculum studies, and quantitative/qualitative/mixed-methods research design. We welcome candidates from a variety of perspectives, disciplines, and research methods.
