Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Child Development Center/Lab School, assist in the provision of a safe and stimulating environment which supports the optimal growth and development of each child. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
  1. Implement the child development program in a manner that reflects the philosophy of the school.
  2. Maintain a clean, safe and health classroom environment.
  3. Communicate directly with parents and provide guidance and assistance to them as needed.
  4. Share responsibility for classroom activities.
  5. Prepare to support and help provide a well organized program each day.
  6. Attend staff meetings and contribute as required and appropriate.
  7. Conduct home visits and conferences as assigned.
  8. Participate in professional development opportunities.
  9. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.


Knowledge and Abilities:
MUST HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Preschool curriculum.
  • Theories and principles of early childhood development.
  • Age-appropriate behaviors and expectations.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.


MUST HAVE ABILITY TO:
  • Perform classroom duties of Teacher during assigned hours.
  • Communicate with and resolve issues from students and parents.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Meet schedules and timelines.
  • Plan and organize work.


Education and Experience:
Any combination equivalent to: Associate of Arts or Science or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field, with three (3) semester units of supervised field experience in an Early Childhood Education setting.

Minimum Qualifications: (Faculty and Academic Administrator Positions Only)


Desirable Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience working with pre-school children in a licensed Early Childhood Education setting.
  • Desired age group work experience: birth to 5 years of age, depending on the centers needs. (Teacher must be flexible to work with the younger children as the center needs a toddler teacher).
  • Desired Courses: CD 170, CD 180, CD 181, and CD 284.


Salary
Range 16, Steps 1-7, $3,991.05-$5,047.42. Initial placement for external applicants is Step 1. An excellent benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental, retirement, vacation, generous sick leave package, and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents.

Start Date

As soon as the successful candidate is identified and following the subsequent governing board approval.

Work Schedule:
